USA Roller Sports has partnered with the National Center for Safety Initiatives (NCSI) to offer background checks, and with the U.S. Center for SafeSport to offer SafeSport training for all coaches and officials.
Beginning Jan. 1, 2017, all coaches and officials must have completed the SafeSport Training course and a background check to maintain their membership status.
All coaches and officials are required to conduct a Background Check through (NCSI), some checks can take up 2 weeks to process, and as an FYI, there is no additional charge for the check for any member.
As of January 1, 2018, the SafeSport online training consists of three courses. Each course is approximately 30 minutes in length and will address the following subjects:
As of October 1, 2018, a refresher course has been added - Refresher 1: Recognizing and Reporting Misconduct was added to the list. Anyone who has already completed the core SafeSport Trained requirement, should complete Refresher 1: Recognizing and Reporting Misconduct. NGBs are required to communicate this update to their membership by September 1, 2019 with a compliance deadline of the end of 2020.
Both the Safe Sport training and Background checks are required to be completed every two years for your membership to be active.
**As of September 1, 2018, the Criminal Background check and Safe Sport training can now be accessed and tracked through the RSportz system. After the member registers and payment is complete, the links to begin each training can be found on the members dashboard page. If the member has not completed the Criminal Background check or Safe Sport training, please proceed through the links listed on the dashboard to complete.
**With everything now being tracked through RSportz as of September 1, 2018, all those members that have completed each required training item within the last 2 years will show as Uncertified. If the member has already completed each required item, please contact the USARS office and we can manually check and mark if they have completed the items, and that will remove the Uncertified status from their membership.
Should you have any further questions regarding Back Ground Checks or Safe Sport Training please contact USA Roller Sports.
